THERE IS SOMETHING AT STAKE

BJK from Inthequiet shared this quote with me and I love it. It is where I'm at right now...

"To quarrel with God is to pay God the supreme compliment: it is to take God seriously. It is to say that God matters enough to be worth some anger. To be indifferent to God is to pay God the supreme insult. It is to say that nothing of consequence is at stake." - Robert McAfee Brown, in his book, Elie Wiesel Messenger To All Humanity

This anger, my restlessness, my hunger, I offer it to God. He takes it from me.

When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"

Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"

Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

So they asked him, "What miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'[a]"

Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

"Sir," they said, "from now on give us this bread."

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:25-35 (NIV)

JESUS CHRIST IS MY BREAD
God understands my deeper hunger. He acknowledges my needs. He too sees the images of this world that wholly deplete me...that leave me wrestling for a deeper understanding of Him.

My granny used to play piano to me...my favorite song was called "The Spinning Wheel." And I was never satisfied with the way she would naturally play The Spinning Wheel. I would shout, "Faster! Faster, grandma, faster!" and she would play faster and faster to my delight. And I would watch for her cue to turn the page of her music book, hungry to be a part of the rhythm.

God moves with our rhythms. He moves with us through places uncharted. He even moves in our passionate anger...and in those moments when we turn and take refuge when we're fed up with the fight.

He is THAT big. He is THAT willing to nourish us. Not unlike a mother with a fussy child at the breast...her patience ever-present in her enduring love.

Thank you, Becky...blessings, sister...for also getting it!
